Open Shelter Home

Laveena Open Shelter Home is running at Ogna since 21 September 2017. The shelter home came into existence following an order of the Rajasthan Government to provide relief to the children who became orphans due to suicides of parents cultivating BT Cotton. So far, the home has freed 521 children from child labour. The children get free shelter, food, education and computer training at the home. Extra curricular activities include yoga, games, prayer and aarti.

Though established as a result of the government order, the home has not got any grant from the Government. The issue is pending in the court and raised in the Rajasthan Vishan Sabha and Lok Sabha, but without any result. That is another thing that several IAS, RAS and IPS officers and people’s representatives have visited the home and found its functioning satisfactory. But no money came to the home.
